Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need. In one app. In one place. All goals and strategies, always at hand.
Are my investments at Vive sustainable?
Vive applies ESG criteria when selecting funds: we invest in screened index funds assessed on environmental, social and governance factors. Certain sectors and companies are excluded as a result.
We deliberately call this a light-green approach: it is not impact investing, but a screening applied on top of a broad, diversified portfolio. You can indicate your sustainability preference when setting up your plan. Read our light-green approach or see the funds.
Are you a regulated investment firm?
Yes. Vive Invest B.V. holds its own licence from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) for wealth management, receiving and transmitting orders, and custody, and is supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).
Among other things this means your capital is legally segregated from Vive's. Read our investment policy here, and find our registration in the AFM register.
When are investments made?
As soon as your money is on your investment account, we buy the investments according to your personal strategy. As a rule your contribution is invested within a week.
The exact lead time depends on how you deposit (manually or by direct debit), on bank holidays and on the funds' processing time. Vive charges no transaction costs for these purchases; see pricing.
Do I have to buy and sell my investments myself?
No. Vive carries out all purchases and sales for you, according to your personal strategy. Rebalancing after market movements happens automatically too.
You only get a notification when something is needed from you, for example if your plan risks going off course or your details need updating. Vive charges no transaction costs; see pricing.
What happens to my contributions and investments if Vive stops?
Your investments remain yours. They are held in your name at an independent custodian, legally separated from Vive's own assets. Vive manages them but has no ownership rights over them.
If Vive were to stop or go bankrupt, your investments would not form part of the bankrupt estate and you could transfer them to another provider. A lijfrente account transfers via the PSK. The AFM supervises compliance with asset segregation.
How does Vive personalise my investment strategy?
Your strategy is built around you, not picked from a list of model portfolios. We look at your age, your financial situation, your horizon, your goal and your sustainability preferences. Our model determines the investment mix from there.
If something changes in your life or your goal, the strategy adjusts automatically, and towards your retirement date we reduce risk step by step. Read more about the financial model or the article personalisation, for real this time.
Does Vive work with partners?
Yes, in three areas: fund providers supplying the index funds, service providers such as the custodian, and marketing and activation partners.
We also work with intermediaries and pension advisers who use Vive with their clients. The full overview of fund partners is on the funds page. Questions about partnering? Contact support or see for intermediaries.
Please note:
Investing carries risks
Investing offers opportunities, but you may lose part or all of your investment. That’s why it’s important to understand the associated risks in advance. More information can be found in the Investment Policy. Vive is a licensed wealth manager.
