How does business investing work?

At Vive, your business account is fully tailored to you and your business.

When it comes to business investing, you don't invest as an individual, but through your company. The investment account is in the name of your BV, the assets remain part of your business assets, and tax treatment occurs within the company.

The goal is to help your excess liquidity grow effectively. Instead of leaving the money in a business savings account, you put it to work for you.

Who is Vive's business investing for?

Intended for Dutch BVs that want to grow their business assets.

Your situation

You have excess liquidity in your business account that you want to put to work. You're looking for a way to build a buffer for the medium to long term, or you want to grow your assets strategically.

What we ask

The account must be in the name of your BV (not a sole trader or VOF). Ideally, the BV has one UBO, but multiple UBOs can be accommodated. The source of the assets must be legal, traceable, and verifiable.

Important: Not sure whether business investing suits your situation? We'd be happy to discuss this with you in an informal conversation.

How Vive invests

With Vive, you get a personalised strategy. We tailor it according to three factors.

A personal risk profile

How much risk is appropriate for your company? Choose how much risk you take. The strategy adjusts the right balance between stocks and bonds.

Passive and diversified

Vive invests for you in index funds from, among others, Northern Trust and Vanguard. These funds are globally diversified, ESG-tested and fully dividend-efficient.

Tailored to your horizon

Are you investing for 3 years, 5 years, or longer? The longer your horizon, the more risk you can take for potentially higher returns.

Vive invests in a personalized, diversified, and fully optimized manner.

You provide the necessary documents. We'll review your application and verify the UBO structure. This process typically takes 3-5 days, depending on the complexity of the structure.

Once approved, you'll receive access to your Vive Business account in the app. You'll set up a personalized investment plan and make your first deposit. Right after that, we'll start investing for you. You can follow everything in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need. In one app. In one place. All goals and strategies, always at hand.

Is business investing with Vive only for BVs?

Yes. At present only private limited companies (BVs) can open a business investment account with Vive. Sole proprietorships, VOFs and other legal forms cannot yet.

Have a sole proprietorship? You can still use pension investing in the third pillar, or invest privately via goal-based investing or wealth management. More on business investing.

How long does it take before I can invest?

For private individuals opening an account themselves, it can be done within an hour. For companies, zzp'ers and entrepreneurs it usually takes 1 to 2 working days, because a CDD/KYC check is carried out.

After that it takes roughly 1 to 2 working days for your deposit to reach your investment account. As a rule we invest your contribution within a week. Start via begin with Vive.

Can I choose what to invest in?

No, you don't pick individual funds. Vive composes the portfolio based on your situation, horizon, goal and risk profile, and executes it.

What you do steer: your goal, your end date, your risk appetite and your sustainability preferences. Together these set the strategy, so you never have to choose between funds or rebalance. See which funds we use and the investment policy.

When do I choose business investing instead of a pension account?

Business investing suits capital that stays in the BV and needs to remain flexible:

  • Surplus liquidity you don't need for now.
  • Capital growth within the company.
  • Money you want access to without a retirement age.

If instead you want to build up tax-efficiently for later, a third-pillar pension account makes more sense: your contribution is deductible within your jaarruimte. Many DGAs combine both. Discuss your situation with your accountant, or see business investing and pension for entrepreneurs.

Can I invest with multiple UBOs?

Ideally the BV has a single UBO. That keeps the CDD/KYC check simple and speeds up opening the account.

If there are multiple UBOs, this is not excluded, but we assess it case by case. Contact support to discuss the options. More on business investing.

Do I need an LEI code?

Not currently required at Vive. If you already have one, we can use it. If you want to apply for one, we'll help you get started.

An LEI code is an international identifier for legal entities trading in financial instruments. For some business transactions it is expected to become mandatory in future. Questions? Contact support.

What are the tax consequences?

That depends on the type of account. If you invest through your BV, results fall under corporation tax. If you invest privately outside a lijfrente, your capital counts in box 3.

With a lijfrente account it works differently: your contribution falls under 'uitgaven voor inkomensvoorzieningen' and is deductible in box 1, provided you have a demonstrable pension shortfall. During the accrual phase the capital is exempt in box 3, and you only pay income tax on payout. Your own situation is decisive; check it with your accountant or tax specialist.
