Shareholder activism refers to the increased involvement of shareholders, particularly those with a minority interest, with the management of the company in which they have invested.

These shareholders, often with a short-term agenda, try to achieve their goals through an aggressive strategy, such as actively influencing the policy and the stock price of a company. They do not hesitate to deploy legal, strategic, and publicity resources to exert pressure on the board.
