One-and-a-half-income households are households in which one partner works full-time and the other partner (usually the woman) works part-time. This model is often seen in situations where the income of the part-time working partner is considered an “extra” rather than essential to the household income.
The part-time job is often viewed as a way for the partner to pursue personal development or to contribute towards personal or additional expenses.
