What is an AEX Midkap Index?

After the merger of the Amsterdam stock exchanges into Amsterdam Exchanges, the Amsterdam Midkap-index was renamed AEX Midkap Index. This index represented the medium-sized companies that were listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange. Following the formation of Euronext, the name of this index was changed to the AMX-index (Amsterdam Midkap Index). The AMX-index comprises the 25 medium-sized companies that follow the largest companies from the AEX-index. These companies are important for the Dutch economy, but have a smaller market capitalisation than the funds in the AEX-index.
