What is an active participant?

An active participant is an employee who is still employed and actively accruing a pension under a pension scheme. This term is often used to distinguish between employees who are still contributing to their pension and those who are no longer actively participating, such as retirees or deferred members.Example: "The decrease in the number of active participants is due to demographic developments.
