What is adventure capitalist?

An adventure capitalist is an entrepreneur who financially supports other entrepreneurs, not necessarily only start-ups, and often also advises and operationally supports them. The term is a play on words of "venture capitalist" and emphasises the adventurous and risky nature of the investments. Adventure capitalists offer not only capital, but also expertise and guidance to the companies in which they invest.
