Also known as: acq-hire or acqui-hire. This is a combination of 'acquire' (takeover) and 'hire' (hiring personnel). It refers to the takeover of a start-up with the primary goal of bringing in a talented team of employees with specific expertise. This is therefore not so much about the company's products or services, but mainly about the human capital.
