What is a stamping scenario?
A "write-down" scenario describes a possible future development in which a restructuring of the capital of a company or pension scheme takes place. This may mean that existing rights or values are reduced to safeguard financial stability, for example by reducing pension benefits or lowering the nominal value of securities.
The write-down scenario is often considered during scenario analyses to assess the impact of economic shocks or market risks. This type of scenario is particularly relevant when examining the sustainability of pension funds or the solvency of companies.
Compared to a "severe weather" scenario, which may be broader and maps out multiple risks, a write-down scenario focuses specifically on the write-down of financial rights or assets.
