What are AEX weekly options?
These are short-term European-style options on the AEX index with a term of one week, from Friday to the following Friday. They are designed for short-term trading strategies and are often used for speculative purposes. These options, also known as 'weeklies', are particularly sensitive to time decay, especially in the last week before expiry. This time decay works to the disadvantage of holders of long positions and to the advantage of short positions.
AEX weekly options are listed with specific trading symbols that indicate which week they concern. Due to the separate trading symbols, combination orders between weekly options of different weeks cannot be executed in a single transaction. This makes rolling over to a new weekly option on Fridays more complex, as it must be done via separate buy and sell orders.
