Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need. In one app. In one place. All goals and strategies, always at hand.

What is wealth management?

Wealth management means having your capital managed professionally, with a manager investing on your behalf within pre-set goals and a risk profile.

So you don't have to pick funds, place orders or rebalance. Unlike pension investing there is no end date and no fiscal lock: you can access it at any time. More on wealth management or read why have your wealth managed.

What is goal-based investing?

Goal-based investing means investing towards a concrete amount within a set period, rather than simply aiming for maximum return.

Your goal and horizon determine the strategy: the shorter the period, the more cautious the mix. As your end date approaches, risk is reduced automatically, so a market drop just before the finish doesn't derail your whole plan. Unlike a pension, you can access it in the meantime. More on goal-based investing.

What is pension investing?

Pension investing means building a pension by investing in equities, bonds and investment funds, rather than only saving. The aim is extra capital alongside your AOW and any collective scheme.

Over the long term investing generally yields more than saving, but there is risk too: the value can fall. Because your horizon is long, there is time to absorb fluctuations. Read what pension investing is or see pension investing at Vive.

What is Vive's mission?

Pension and wealth belong together, but are arranged separately everywhere: fragmented, opaque and complex. Vive brings them together in one app, so you get a grip on today's money for later. We call that toekomstgeld.

Concretely that means: a personal investment strategy for everyone, whether you invest for your pension, a goal or your wealth. Not a standard model portfolio, but a plan that moves with your life. More on about us.

Who is building up a pension through Vive suitable for?

For four groups in particular:

  • Zzp'ers and DGAs who have to build up themselves, because no employer arranges it.
  • Employees with a pension shortfall who want to add to their employer scheme.
  • Employers without a cao or industry pension fund who want to offer something without a mandatory collective.
  • Intermediaries who want to broaden their services into the third pillar.

If you fall under a mandatory industry pension fund, that scheme remains leading and Vive can at most sit on top. See pension investing.

What goals can I use goal-based investing for?

For any financial goal with a horizon of at least one year. Think of your children's education, a renovation, a sabbatical, a world trip, starting a business or stopping work earlier.

You can set multiple goals at once, each with its own amount, end date and strategy. For an emergency buffer, investing is usually less suitable; work that out with the buffer calculator. More on goal-based investing.

Please note:
Investing carries risks

Investing offers opportunities, but you may lose part or all of your investment. That’s why it’s important to understand the associated risks in advance. More information can be found in the Investment Policy. Vive is a licensed wealth manager.
