What is the aggregate income?
The aggregate income (also known as annual income) is the total amount of your income from various sources that is taxed in the Netherlands. This includes, among other things:
- Income from employment: your salary or wages received from an employer.
- Profit from business: the income you earn as a self-employed entrepreneur.
- Income from other activities: income that does not fall under employment or entrepreneurship, such as freelance work or other side activities.
- Taxable periodic benefits and allowances: for example, alimony or other benefits you receive regularly.
The aggregate income is important for calculating your annual allowance (jaarruimte), as it determines how much you can contribute tax-free towards your pension.
